Delicious soft caramel and crispy cereal bars topped with a biscuit for extra crunch, all wrapped in smooth milk chocolate. TOFFEE CRISP is crispy, crunchy, chewy and addictive. Originally created by McIntosh, TOFFEE CRISP was introduced to the UK market in 1963.
The idea for the TOFFEE CRISP bar came from John Henderson, nephew of John McIntosh, who adapted a recipe for a cake his late wife Edith had made for their children. The recipe used a combination of crispy rice pieces and chocolate cake, but when he first presented a sample to the committee he felt it needed something more, so after further development soft toffee was added along the top, adding a unique combination of texture and chocolate cake. From crunchy cereal, chewy toffee and smooth milk chocolate, TOFFEE CRISP was born.
Originally, TOFFEE CRISP bars were produced at McIntosh's factory in Halifax, but in 2012 production moved to Newcastle, where they continue to be made today.
In the 1980s and 1990s there was a series of TV adverts that ended with the tagline "Someone, somewhere is drinking a Toffee Crisp".
