Harvey Nichols Grüner Feldliner is produced by the Hirsch family in the village of Kammern, in the heart of Austria's outstanding Kamptal region. Hirsch means deer in English, which is why we have antlers on the label. Used to propel themselves forward and clear obstacles, the antlers are a fitting tribute to Johannes and his family - not just because of their name, but also because they are determined pioneers.

The Hirsch family championed the steep slopes where others were unwilling to work, and now helm some of the region's most respected sites. At the height of the red wine boom, they chose to focus solely on the Grüner Veltliner and Riesling for which the region has become world famous. They were also early adopters of organic and biodynamic farming methods.

The grapes were hand-picked from the most terraced areas, where the large day-night temperature difference allows for slow ripening, developing depth of flavour whilst retaining a refreshing acidity. Fermented and aged purely in stainless steel, the result is an elegant wine full of regional character.

Dry, zesty and flavorful with a crisp, spicy finish and surprising complexity, this highly versatile wine is bursting with aromas of citrus, green apple, fresh-cut flowers, mango and pear, and can be paired with virtually anything from Austrian schnitzel to Vietnamese salads.
